Quoting software for construction equipment dealers

From a 1.5-tonne micro digger to a 30-tonne excavator, every plant quote has the same problem: the machine is the easy part. DigDealer gets the hitch, buckets, piping, trade-in and delivery right, and gets the quote out while the customer is still keen.

What makes plant quotes awkward

Construction machinery is sold on specification. A contractor wants a 14-tonne excavator with a tilt hitch, three buckets, hammer piping, a particular track width and delivery to site by the start of a job. A hire fleet wants six of them with identical specs. A council wants it all itemised with VAT shown separately. Each of those quotes pulls on different price lists and different people's knowledge.

Add a trade-in, a used machine in stock and an exchange rate on the imported model, and it is easy to see why quotes take days and margins wander.

Spec the machine properly, first time

In DigDealer, each excavator, dumper, loader or grader carries its own list of options: hitches matched to its tonnage, bucket sets, piping and valves, cab and track choices, warranties and delivery. The machine configurator only offers what fits, marks what's required and shows what's included as standard, so the salesperson is choosing, not checking.

Specifications print on the quote, which matters when the buyer is comparing three dealers' quotes side by side on a site cabin desk.

Trade-ins, used stock and lead times on one quote

Part-exchange allowances go on the quote with the machine they are against, and the balance due is worked out for you. Used machines can be tracked as stock and come off stock when the deal is signed off. Every line shows whether it is in stock or a factory order and the delivery estimate for each, so a contractor planning a job knows what to expect.

Margins that survive negotiation

Plant buyers negotiate. DigDealer lets salespeople do it inside limits you set: default markups, a minimum markup per brand and a discount approval that goes straight to the sales manager's phone when a deal needs to go lower. Imported machines priced in euros are converted at your rate with freight and PDI included; see euro price lists.

From site visit to signed order

Quotes can be built on a tablet at the customer's site, offline if needed, and sent as a branded quotation with a link to sign. Once accepted, the deposit request and order are ready to go. If you also sell attachments separately, see how DigDealer works for attachment dealers.

Construction equipment dealers: common questions

Can DigDealer handle hitches and buckets for different machine sizes?

Yes. Options are linked to each model, and options that only fit certain carriers or tonnages are hidden where they don't apply.

Can we include a trade-in on the quote?

Yes. Trade-ins and part-exchange allowances go on the quote, and the balance due is calculated automatically.

Do quotes show VAT separately?

Yes. Quotes show subtotal, VAT and total inc. VAT, which is what most contractors, hire companies and councils need.

Can we quote used plant from stock?

Yes. Used machines can be added and tracked as stock, and come off stock when the quote is signed off.
